Poster for Iran
Founder and Curator: Aménéh Moayedi
France / Iran
Following the death of 22-year-old Iranian student Mahsa Amini on September 16, 2022, in Tehran after being beaten by the morality police for an "improper hijab" the chant "Woman, Life, Freedom" (Jin, Jiyan, Azadî) became the rallying cry of a worldwide movement.
In response, Aménéh Moayedi, Iranian graphic designer and artist based in France, launched the “Poster for Iran” initiative on Facebook in September 2022. The open call invited artists from around the world to create and share posters under the unifying slogan Woman, Life, Freedom. The project quickly became a large-scale international artistic movement for freedom, justice, and women’s rights in Iran. More than 500 posters by 250 artists from over 50 nationalities were collected, exhibited, and widely recognized across international media, design festivals, and exhibitions.
